Avoid getting stranded!

Is towing insurance worth it?

We recently had someone ask us a question about towing insurance. The individual was wondering, “is towing insurance worth it?” Luckily, we know of someone that dealt with this very question only a few days ago. The short answer is, yes, towing insurance is worth it. Check out the story below!

Noises were coming from under the hood.

In order to fully understand the story, we need to back up a few weeks. We are going to give our person the name Bob. A few weeks ago, Bob was at home visiting his parents. As he left, his mom said that she heard funny noises coming from under the hood of his car. Bob lives in a cold climate where the temperatures have been in the teens and 20s lately. He did not think much of it, and on he went with his day. Unfortunately, the sounds never got better. He was on his way home late one night a week or so later when he heard even worse noises coming from the engine. He figured again it was just due to the cold temperatures and continued his drive home.

The next day, he was on his way into work, and the check engine light came on along with the oil filter light. Bob made a call to his trusted mechanic to have him look at it once Bob was done with work. Little did Bob know at that moment that he would not make the appointment. Bob finished up with work, went to start his car. Nothing. The key turned over, but there was a fast clicking sound that was not right. He tried, and tried, and tried, to get his vehicle to start, but it would not. He was now stranded at work. Bob called a towing company, and his vehicle was put on a flatbed and taken to his mechanic’s shop to be repaired.

Even though the bill for the tow was not that much, having a vehicle not start is not a pleasant experience. Whether you have a brand new 2020 vehicle or an older 2012 vehicle, sometimes, things just go wrong and a vehicle will not start. There is a sense of peace that comes with knowing that even though you are looking at some sort of repair bill, you will not be out for the cost of the tow as well. The nice thing about having towing insurance is that once you are reimbursed for the tow, you can now put that money towards the repair bill. In addition, depending on the insurance company, towing insurance is not too expensive. Speak with your local insurance representative for more information.
