Things to do if your Uber driver is in an accident

The first thing you need to do is remain calm. Sometimes accidents happen and escalating and freaking out about the situation does not help anyone or the situation. Although we recognize that this is easier said than done, it is still important to try and remain as calm as possible.

The next thing you need to do is assess the situation. Are you or someone else hurt? If so, call 911 immediately. If not, the police should still be called so that there is a report of this accident. In addition, you need to contact Uber and let them know that your driver was in an accident. This can be done right on the application. At the end of your trip is where you can report the accident.

What do I do if I am injured as a result of an accident while in an Uber?

The first thing you need to do is assess the situation and determine if you need medical attention. If you do, call the police and request for help. Next, you will eventually need the driver’s insurance information. The drivers for Uber are subcontractors and need to carry an extra level of insurance for this very reason. If the driver’s insurance comes back as being denied, then Uber’s insurance will kick in and take care of covering your expenses.
